Set yourself up for a successful week
My Sunday ritual has become vitally important. I’d even go so far as to say it’s become a sacred day for me. Now that I’ve stepped into a higher leadership position in my corporate role, balancing my time and energy has become more important that ever.
I want to continue showing up for my clients and for my work, in a way that feels aligned and creates value. And I can only be my best self with the right support structures in place.
That’s why I’ve set up a Sunday Ritual that allows me to flow into the week with a sense of groundedness, clarity and focus.
Here’s what you need to do to set yourself up for a successful week:
Set aside 30 minutes
On Sunday morning, take 30 minutes to look through your calendar for the week ahead. If you have a partner, set aside time together so that you know what is going on in each other’s week.
Here’s what you need to be looking for:
If you menstruate, what phase are you in? Each phase of your monthly cycle provides you with a different energy which you can use to optimize your productivity.
This can help determine what exercises you do, what foods you will meal plan and how much energy you spend outwards, rather than inwards.
Energetic check-in
Next, have a look at what you’ve committed to for the week ahead. Do these commitments still feel in alignment? For example, have you booked a HIIT class when really what you’re craving is some gentle yin? Have you said yes to networking drinks, but you’re feeling wiped and your energy contracts at the mere thought of being around so many people?
If anything no longer feels aligned check in to see if you can move the commitment. If you can’t check in to see what tools you can lean into to shift how you feel about the commitment.
For example, if I’m presenting to the board and it’s my menstrual phase I might make sure I have set aside some time after the meeting to go for a stroll in the sun, or take some time to have a nurturing cup of herbal tea in the break room.
Meal prep
If you follow me on socials, you’ll know I love my meal prep. Having healthy and nutritious food at my fingertips is not a nice-to-have. It’s a necessity. It means I can show up as my best self and that I’m not only reducing food waste and saving money, but fueling my body in all the right ways.
This takes all of 30 minutes.
Try it for a month and see how it transforms your life. I can guarantee this ritual will help you feel more prepared as you go into the week, reduce your anxiety and it will give you an opportunity to make sure you have space for fun in-between slaying your boss-babe goals.
